Alcohol consumption in Russia dropped upto 43% : WHO Report

  • Alcohol utilization in Russia diminished by 43 percent from 2003 to 2016, a World Health Organization (WHO) report said.

The report credited the decrease in what was viewed as one of the heaviest-savoring nations the world to a progression of alcohol-control estimates executed by the state, particularly under then President Dmitri Medvedev, and a push towards healthy lifestyles.

As per the WHO, the drop in alcohol utilization was connected to a noteworthy ascent in life expectancy in the nation.

"Alcohol utilization has for quite some time been perceived as one of the primary driving components of mortality in the Russian Alliance, particularly among men of working age," the report stated, adding that from 2003 to now, both alcohol utilization and death rate diminished.

In 2018, life expectancy in Russia arrived at a memorable top, at 68 years for men and 78 years for ladies.

Alcohol-control estimates presented under then President Medvedev included publicizing limitations, expanded duties on alcohol and a prohibition on alcohol deals between specific hours.
